The Yalikavak House is wood & glass form house in harmony with the landscape designed by
Boran Ekinci Architects and located in the Yalikavak district in Bodrum, consisting of a housing unit and an annexes unit. The plan of the housing unit has a fragmentary character where the living area and bedroom are structured as two distinct branches assembled within the entrance zone. Despite being settled on an heavily sloping area, the building is designed in accordance with the existing ground and overlooking the natural landscape.
Transparency takes its basis within the façade facing the view, while natural stone and timber is preferred at the other facades. Divergences, repetitions and interrelations are freely established in between the design, material choice and assemblage of building components. It provides a freedom of this house.
For example this freedom is a hanging curtain in front of the balcony. If the curtain doesn’t exist, the door couldn’t exist either. In other words, all of these are separate elements, but existence of any of them supports the other. This house presents different ways of living under a unique roof. Actually, it is the spacial organisation of the project that creates its pleasure.
